Ahmed Zilani nominating in Mandurah council elections

AHMED Zilani plans to nominate to become a candidate in the City of Mandurah elections.

He said his candidacy was part of an ongoing protest to build the Lakelands Train Station urgently and for more funds for Peel Health Campus.

“If elected I will also lobby for more police for our community safety, creating jobs for locals and a rates freeze for the next two years and then increase according to the CPI,” he said.

“I am 54 years old and have been an Australian citizen for 17 years,” he said.

“I am fortunate enough to have lived and travelled to many other countries of the world.

“But I find Mandurah is a magnificent place to live and raise a family.

“That’s why I chose to live here permanently since 2010 with my family.”

Mr Zilani has a bachelor degree in computer engineering with distinctions from the US.

He has more than 25 years of professional business skills where he led multi-million-dollar companies.

“I am highly experienced in negotiations, decision making, local and corporate governance, financial management, strategic planning and waste management,” he said.

Mr Zilani said he was passionate about Mandurah.

“We have God-gifted pristine beaches and nature reserves,” he said.

“Our waterways are second to none.

“We must capitalize our waterways and develop our city for the future without sacrificing our environment.”

Mr Zilani said the north ward was growing rapidly.

“It has lot to offer: new schools, shopping centres and public spaces which offer vibrant and engaged community,” he said.

“I feel day by day Mandurah is going down the hill: drugs, anti-social behaviour, crimes and homelessness are destroying our image which needs fresh faces with new ideas and enthusiasm.

“The Councillors must look beyond the box if they are to thrive as a 21st century city.”
