Pinjarra Refinery apprentice Ben Sharman is the fourth member of his family to become an employee of Alcoa.
He said it was Alcoa’s reputation as a great employer that drew him to the apprenticeship program.
“I have always heard good things about Alcoa, especially from family members who already work for the company,” he said.
Alcoa has offered apprenticeships since operations began more than 50 years ago, giving more than 1600 young people on-the-job training in an exciting and complex environment.
The apprenticeship program contributes to build skills in the local community.
The program typically draws its candidates from key communities surrounding its operations, including Pinjarra and Mandurah, to ensure the continuation of development and training opportunities for young people in the area.
