ALCOA’S Pinjarra refinery is calling for expressions of interest from community groups needing volunteer help for projects, activities or events between September and December.

Non-profit organisations in the Shire of Murray and City of Mandurah have until Friday, August 3 to express their interest in obtaining volunteer support from Alcoa’s teams of community minded employees.

Common volunteering activities include working bees, painting, weeding, event participation, gardening, general maintenance and tree planting.

Refinery manager Mark Hodgson said Alcoa had a strong culture of volunteering and each year, employees looked forward to the annual volunteer program, to get out in the community and give local non-profit organisations a helping hand.

Last year, more than 400 volunteers from the Pinjarra Refinery rolled up their sleeves and volunteered their efforts in about 40 activities throughout Murray and Mandurah.
