Aldi Lakelands to sell booze; Mandurah store waits for licence

ALDI has been granted a licence to sell beer, wine and spirits at Lakelands Shopping Centre.

Liquorland also had its licence approved for the same shopping centre.

Under licence conditions Aldi cannot sell refrigerated alcohol at the store and alcohol must be sold separate from groceries.

Aldi has also made an application to sell liquor at its Mandurah store and its Waikiki store.

The wines sold by Aldi have won awards at the Melbourne International Wine Competition.

Its $6.99 One Road South Australia & Heathcote Shiraz 2015 won best value Shiraz of the year.

The McCusker Centre for Action on Alcohol and Youth opposed the application to sell alcohol at Aldi in May this year.

The Centre had concerns about selling alcohol at a grocery store where children could see it and about the low price.
