THE long-awaited Aldi store opens its doors at Halls Head Central on Wednesday.

To celebrate the launch, Halls Head Central is hosting a festival of free family activities until the following Sunday, from 10am to 2pm, featuring a petting zoo, balloon twisters, face painting and live music in the alfresco dining precinct.

One lucky winner will also walk away with a $1000 gift card.

Since Halls Head Central’s $55 million redevelopment and launch in March, the centre has welcomed fashion brands Dotti, Jeanswest and Portmans along with Priceline and Liquorland.

The centre now boasts a new Kmart, more than 50 new specialty stores with an array of fashion, the latest in home wares and gifts, an extensive selection of health and wellbeing items and a transformed Coles.
