Anzac first for Aboriginals

Aboriginal musician George Walley will play the didgeridoo at the dawn service.

‘I am pretty excited,’ he said. ‘I have been going to the Anzac Day service for years.

‘It is my commitment to our family members who served in some capacity or another.’

Mr Walley said a number of his relatives served or volunteered in the defence force, but they ‘didn’t really talk about it.’

This year more than 5000 people are expected at the dawn service and about 8000 at the 10.30am service.
