Artists busy stretching boundaries

The Common Threads wearable art showcase was a riot of colour and creativity on Saturday night at Mandurah Performing Arts Centre, as part of the 2015 Stretch Festival.

For the first time the showcase attracted international submissions from New Zealand and the US.

The overall winner was Kerry Gelmi a New Zealand artist Australia will claim as its own as she now lives in Bunbury.

Her piece Icosahedron makes the connection between sculpture and fashion.

Made of card stock that will not mark or become wet, it highlights our throw away culture.
