Aubin Grove Station: freeway and rail disruptions while station structures lifted into place

MAJOR works on the Aubin Grove Station and Russell Road upgrade project will lead to some rail and road disruptions on the Kwinana Freeway over three weekends this month.

The disruptions are needed so the station building and pedestrian footbridges can be lifted into place and the bridge beam spans installed.

The road disruptions begin from June 11 at 9pm each Saturday night and end at 4am the following Monday.

The configuration of the road disruptions varies on each weekend.

Key road impacts include diversions on Kwinana Freeway and closure of the Russell Road bridge.

Road users are asked to plan ahead and avoid the area.

In each case, the rail disruptions affect only part of the line.

They start following the last service on Saturday night (on Sunday morning) and end in time for first service Monday.

Full details are as follows:

WEEKEND 1 (June 11-13):

Road: Kwinana Freeway northbound traffic will be diverted over the freeway using the Russell Road off and on ramps.

Two lanes of traffic will be maintained during the diversion, with appropriate traffic management and speed reductions.

The Russell Road bridge will be closed to all traffic.

Southbound freeway traffic can exit at the off-ramp to Russell Road and only turn left on to Gibbs Road; no right turn will be available.

The southbound Kwinana Freeway on-ramp will also remain open.

Motorists west of the bridge will detour via Hammond Road (north to Beeliar Drive) and those to the east will detour via Tapper Road (north to Beeliar Drive) or Lyon Road (south to Rowley Road).

Rail:

Services on the Mandurah Line will be disrupted from the last service on Saturday June 11 (early Sunday morning) until first service on Monday June 13.
