Ben Elton and retired Test stars special guests at Lord’s Taverners Peel Region event

Elton will discuss his proposed feature film to be shot in the Peel region later this year and the annual Junior Lord Taverner of the Year Award will be presented to a young cricketer.

Over the last few years, Lord’s Taverners have raised money to support a number of local charities to give disadvantaged young people a sporting chance.

President Barrie Hudson said Lord’s Taverners was proud to have contributed around $100,000 to support local young people and provide them with opportunities to which they would not normally have access.

Lord’s Taverners is an international charity originating in England with branches all over the world, including 11 in Australia.

It was established in the UK in 1950 when a group of actors, who regularly watched cricket from the bar at Lord’s, decided they should do something for those less fortunate.

The dinner is at Rushton Park on Friday at 6.30pm.
