Big crowds kick off Naidoc Week in Mandurah

A BIG crowd welcomed the start of Naidoc Week at Mandurah Performing Arts Centre last night.

The celebrations kicked off with the annual Naidoc walk from the eastern foreshore to Mandjar Square for flag raising, Aboriginal dancing and the official opening.

Later, activities included the Binjareb Art Awards, won by Sharyn Egan for her painting Terra Nullius, Aboriginal food , a sausage sizzle and performances by Gina Williams, Phil Walley-Stack and the Maditjitil Moorna Choir.
