Alison had cervical cancer when she was 23 and had the all-clear for years.
But out of the blue she discovered she had kidney cancer last year, which meant she had to have her kidney removed.
She said her daughter became mum for a while and really stepped up to the plate.
They decided to take part in the relay as something they could do together while helping to spread the message about cancer.
Their team is More Birthdays.
Peel Thunder is helping the team by donating the proceeds of a money wheel on Friday, August 14, to them.
Meals will be served from 5.30pm and bookings can be made through the venue on 9537 5400.
