Boost for Dawesville RSL

Boost for Dawesville RSL

THE Dawesville RSL will receive $21,670 from the Coalition government to improve its facilities.

Canning MHR Andrew Hastie announced the funding, awarded under the Veteran and Community Grants program, will be used to upgrade well-worn tables and chairs.

“The Coalition has a strong track record of looking after our veterans and defence personnel, and this announcement builds on that,” Mr Hastie said.

“RSL’s have a unique character in Western Australia, bringing veterans and the wider community together in a special environment.

“They continue the bonds of mateship started in military service, which are a great source of strength and stability for ADF veterans.

“This grant grows the capacity of the RSL to do this good work among us.”

Branch secretary Mr Fred Abbott said the funding was welcome news.

“This grant will enable Dawesville RSL to provide safe and comfortable facilities in the Norm Smith Room for our members and other community groups who utilise the room five days a week,” he said.

“I hope the upgrade will encourage members of the Port Bouvard Recreation and Sporting Club, and the wider community, to come and enjoy our fellowship.
