A BOOZE thief was tracked down by police after he left his phone at the scene of the crime.
Kurt Arthur Lumby (21) pleaded guilty during a previous appearance in Mandurah Magistrates Court to burglary and stealing.
The police prosecutor told the court on November 6, that Lumby gained entry to Merlin Street Pavilion via a smashed window.

On his way out of the building, Lumby dropped his phone on the floor.
Police used the phone to find Lumby and charge him.
Duty lawyer Clare Hay told the court Lumby made a “silly decision” while he was under the influence of alcohol.
This was Lumby’s first criminal offence.
He received a global fine of $1200 and costs of $79. He is paying off $1109 in relation to the smashed window.
Lumby was granted a spent conviction and will not have a criminal record.
