Bushfire downgraded to an advice

A BUSHFIRE burning in Nambeelup has been downgraded to a Bushfire Advice.

Some residents in the area between Readheads Road, Hopeland Road, Lakes Road and Nambeelup Road were evacuated last night as 80 firefighters fought to control the blaze.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services last night issued an emergency warning and advice as the bushfire burned dangerously close to properties in Nambeelup.

The fire quickly spread to nearby dry bushland as winds fuelled the fire in a north westerly direction, towards Stake Hill.

It is believed the blaze was started by a vehicle fire around 8pm.
