Call for parents and community to give feedback on John Tonkin College

Vanessa SchmittMandurah Coastal Times

EDUCATION Minister Peter Collier wants to hear from parents and the community about their views on the structure of John Tonkin College.

An online survey, which opens today for two weeks, will allow all opinions on the current structure of the school to be heard.

“I know parents are very passionate about their children getting the best education,” Mr Collier said.

John Tonkin College currently operates across two sites.

The Tindale site caters for students from Years 7 to 9. Students from Years 10, 11 and 12 are on the Mandurah Education and Training site alongside the John Tonkin Education Support Centre, South Metropolitan TAFE and Murdoch University.

“I would like to know from the community whether the current structure is helping their children reach their goals, or if they think the college should be located on one site,” Mr Collier said.

He said if any parents or members of the community did not have access to the internet, they could contact John Tonkin College to complete the survey there.

The survey will close on October 28 and findings will be released to the community by the end of the school year.
