The donation was part of the City's ongoing support for the not-for-profit organisation in the care and re-homing of abandoned dogs.

K9 was established in 1990 to care for abandoned, abused and mistreated dogs and has since rescued and found new homes for thousands of dogs.

The City has been making donations to K9 since 2003,with donations totalling $45,000 since that time.
