COLES will recruit 14 new Aboriginal team members across its sites in Secret Harbour and Lakelands following a pre-employment retail training program.
The new team members will celebrate the completion of their training program at a graduation ceremony on Thursday and will start employment at two Coles supermarkets, a Liquorland outlet and a Coles Express.
Called First Steps, the training program assists Coles to recruit, train and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander team members over three weeks and then provides mentoring for the first six months of employment.
Coles State general manager Mark O’Connor said it was exciting to see so many new Indigenous recruits join the team.
All participants who complete the program will be offered part-time work with Coles, which provides consistent hours each week.
