Community has big say in Novara foreshore facelift

Jill BurgessMandurah Coastal Times

THE Novara foreshore is undergoing a face lift following extensive community input.

Feedback has been received for the final design that will include space for informal recreation, paths, seating and interpretative signage.

A focus will also be on environmental improvements such as management of storm water and revegetation of the foreshore to increase wildlife habitat, reduce erosion and create a buffer from wind and waves.

A major feature is the new adventure playground.

The area will include a combination of ‘off-the-shelf’ equipment combined with custom-built nature play features.

The new playground will include a six-metre high climbing structure, swings, and in a first for WA, a Miram, which is a skate-style play element for older children.

Two fitness nodes will also be installed including leg press, butterfly press, chin-ups, plyometric box jumps , trapeze rings and pull up bar.

The works will add to facilities including a boat ramp, jetties and a low impact canoe launch point.

The staged redevelopment will be completed by 2020.
