Wheeler Field played a critical part in supporting firefighting efforts during the devastating Yarloop bushfires in 2016, catering for 30 movements a day with a seven and a half minute turnaround.

Both Mr Wheeler and the airfield are seen as an asset to Shire of Murray residents, the greater Peel region and the South-West.

His forethought, vision and personal commitments have directly impacted many lives and saves countless homes, property and livestock over two decades.

The awards are determined by public vote and close on Sunday, April 30.
