Mandurah dog returned home safely after storm

Jill BurgessMandurah Coastal Times

Fifteen year-old kelpie cross dingo Courtney was reported missing by her owners the morning after the storm.

That afternoon, resident Neil Tondut was walking his dog along Silver Sands beach and found Courtney shivering in the dunes.

Mr Tondut took the dog home to care for her and called the rangers.

Importantly, Courtney was registered and wearing her registration tags so rangers were able to match the dog with their lost pet register and return Courtney to her relieved owners.

Mayor Marina Vergone said the story highlighted the importance of registration and how, with the support of the community, owners could be reunited with their missing pets.

Registration also enables rangers to investigate other incidents, including dog attacks.
