Cupcakes for a good cause

MERCY Place Mandurah residents helped fight animal cruelty with cupcakes.

The residents took part in the sweetest fundraiser of the year – Cupcake Day for RSPCA.

The self-confessed animal lovers rolled up their sleeves to bake, ice, sell, share and eat dozens of cupcakes, in a bid to raise funds to help the sick, injured and neglected animals that RSPCA WA deals with each year.

Mercy Place Mandurah service manager Kathryn Murphy said seniors at the home were huge animal lovers who, when they read about the fun fundraiser, wanted to help make a difference.

“They jumped on the opportunity to combine a morning tea for friends and family while helping to raise much-needed funds for RSPCA WA,” she said.

“Even though animal cruelty is something we all find hard to think about, the majority of our residents have owned animals and so have been keen to help raise money for animal welfare services across the State.

“Our residents also love baking, icing, and eating cupcakes, and the fact that by doing so we can raise money for the RSPCA is just the icing on the cake.”
