Mandurah Murray Mayday Op Shop made a $2000 donation to the boatshed’s restoration program, to the delight of volunteers Brian Toussaint and David Austin.

The Canopus was donated to the Mandurah Community Museum this year by the Blakeley family and restorations on the 101-year-old yacht will begin soon.

Canopus was the last cargo carrying boat that took produce from Mandurah to the metropolitan markets, returning with stores for the townspeople as boats had done since 1830.

The vessel became a tourist boat as part of one of the first tourism-oriented businesses in the Peel region.

The Mayday Op Shop, with stores in Mandurah and Murray, donates to various various organisations, hospitals and charities.
