DUDLEY Park 59-year-old Daryl Winters has suffered from Parkinson’s for 20 years.
As his condition deteriorated he was forced to live in a nursing home and use a mobility scooter because he had difficulty walking.
But after deep brain stimulation, Mr Winters now lives independently, goes to the gym every day and took part in the City to Surf last month.

“I was trying – I was gutted,” she said.
“He was so proud.”
Ms Winters said her father used to take about 40 tablets a day, but since his surgery he only needs a couple of pills each day.
“He gradually improved,” she said.
“He goes on walks now, he’s come a long way.”
