DWELLINGUP Police claim two young males deliberately injured a lizard.

Officer in Charge Dave Harnett said a witness saw two youths on a moped swerve to run over a goanna on McLarty Street, Dwellingup at 3pm yesterday.

“The goanna was on the double white lines crossing the road and the moped crossed the road and run over its tail,” Sgt Harnett said.

“The young males were throwing sticks and rocks at it.”

The goanna was taken to Pinjarra Veterinary Hospital and is ok. It was then taken to a rehabilitation centre where it will be released at some stage.

Police are seeking the identity of the young males, who were seen riding a silver moped with a red stripe.
