COLES at Erskine Central Shopping Centre has been recognised for its contribution to Disability Employment Services and its commitment to employing people with a disability.
Canning MHR Andrew Hastie presented the award to former store manager Natalie Sydney-Smith who flew in from Kalgoorlie for the occasion.
Coles Erskine is committed to attracting and employing a team that is representative of the community and supports the employment of people with disabilities.
Coles partners with Forrest Personnel and Disability Works Australia for support with the recruitment and employment of people with disabilities through Coles stores.
Mr Hastie said Australians believed every person had an innate worth.
“It was great to celebrate the efforts of Forrest Personnel working together to provide employment for people with disabilities,’’ he said.
“Work gives people dignity, purpose and worth.
“We recognised former store manager Natalie Sydney-Smith who took positive action to provide work for people with disabilities.”
Coles is also a member of the Australian Network on Disability that helps with the inclusion of people with disabilities in all aspects of its business, team members, customers and suppliers.
In recent years, Coles and Disability Works Australia have created on-line information packs to help Disability Open Employment Services through the recruitment process.
