Take along a picnic and enjoy the sensory journey through the story of Mandjar. The performance, which starts at 5pm, is a celebration of Mandurah, its waterways and its people, with the local community providing support by sharing their stories.

Not only is it a first for Mandurah, but for WA. It will be a spectacle of kayaks ‘dancing’ in creative harmony on the Peel waterways, also with fire, dance and drums.

The event has been put together by creative director Donna Jackson and community arts worker Kellee Aberg.

The Big Draw on Easter Sunday is part of the world’s biggest celebration of drawing.

The event is held in the UK and 20 other countries, with 280,000 people expected to join in more than 1000 events.

Mandurah will lead the way in WA by showcasing the artistic skills of the community across a range of drawing styles from digital drawing to recreating a cityscape.

Drawing events for all ages will be held throughout Mandurah from the eastern foreshore to Contemporary Art Spaces Mandurah.

Budding artists, community groups, students and businesses will take to Mandurah’s streets, cafes, museums, footpaths and parks to put their creative skills on show in the lead-up to Stretch.
