MANDURAH Train Station will expanded with $16 million in funding from the Federal Budget.
Canning MHR Andrew Hastie said the Mandurah station carpark was a bottleneck in the local public transport system.
“This investment by the Morrison Government will help relieve pressure and make the morning commute into Perth easier for hundreds of people in our community,” he said.
“This isn’t an election commitment – this money is delivered and in the budget.”
Mr Hastie said the Federal Government was working with the State Government and expected them to do so in return.
“Population growth in Mandurah’s northern suburbs will continue to put pressure on the station car park, even with the expansion,” he said.
“We need a real plan for public transport in Mandurah and that must include Lakelands train station.
“We worked constructively with the State Government to deliver on the car park expansion.
“I’m asking that they do the same for the Lakelands station.”
