COLIN Howe was fishing for bait and just look what he landed.
Colin and mates left the Bouvard boat ramp in the early hours, caught two dhufish and threw three back.
Further south, they threw back one more and there were more stops for more fish that were also thrown back.
Disappointed they turned for home but stopped on a promising-looking area to put in some big lines.
Colin thought he would catch some bait and put out a 14lb trace and small no 5 whiting hook.
“It didn’t even get to the bottom before it took off like a rocket,’’ he said.
With help, he brought up the 13kg dhufish about 15 minutes later with a piece of cuttlefish the size of a finger nail on the hook.
“If it’s a great day, we go fishing and have done for more than 50 years,’’ he said.
