Fisherman found safe after night missing in Peel Estuary

A FISHERMAN has been found safe after he went missing last night in the Peel Estuary.

The 52-year-old man set off in his dinghy to go fishing at around 8.30pm and was due to return around 10.30pm.

The man’s family called police at around 1.30am when he failed to return.

Marine rescue volunteers, Water Police and the Police helicopter were involved in the search, with the man found a short time ago in the South Yunderup canal, walking in shallow water.

It is believed the man had become separated from his boat.

Police say the man is safe and well and is being reunited with his boat.
