A FOUR-month-old and a six-month-old child were among five people taken to hospital as a precaution after a pontoon capsized in the Mandurah Estuary last night.

The pontoon, believed to be in the Dudley Park area, started taking on water at 7.20pm.

A police spokeswoman said all those on the vessel, including a four-month-old child, ended up in the water.

She said five people – including the baby – were taken to Peel Health Campus for a check-up as a precaution, but there were no serious injuries.

Peel Water Police and Mandurah Volunteer Marine Rescue vessels also attended to provide assistance.

Police will not be investigating the incident, but an officer from the Department of Transport Marine Safety also attended and will make inquiries into the incident.
