Former Alcoa boss joins Peel Development Commission board

FORMER chairman and managing director of Alcoa of Australia and president of Alcoa Global Refining Alan Cransberg has been appointed to the board of Peel Development Commission.

He has also served in leadership positions on a number of boards including the Wirrpanda Foundation and Corporation, Black Swan State Theatre Company, John Swire and Sons Pty Ltd, UWA Business School, SAS Resources Trust and Ace Mining Solutions.

Mr Cransberg will take on the role of deputy chairman working closely with chairman Paddi Creevey to deliver on Peel’s vision as a progressive, prosperous and dynamic region with a culture of care.

His expertise will be well used in maximising Peel’s opportunities in the export-driven industries of agriculture, manufacturing and tourism, accelerating economic growth and business opportunities for the region.

Ms Creevey said Mr Cransberg would add to the range of shared experience and skill on the board.

“We will be continuing to work on the development of the Peel Business Park, the advancement of the trails hub, expansion of the equine industry and growth in aged care,’’ she said.
