FOUNDATION Christian College families collected more than 1500 items in the Mandurah Murray Christmas Appeal during their first-ever Christmas Cupboard Countdown.
During November, parents from the College worked together to promote the Christmas Cupboard Countdown to students, teachers and their families.
Principal Andrew Newhouse was ecstatic about the collection and the impact it had on the College community.
“It warmed my heart each week to see the parent volunteers along with their children collecting and tallying the donations,” he said.
“Not only did they volunteer their time but the effort they made by either dressing up, bringing Lily the camel or decorating the collection trolley really spread Christmas joy and anticipation around the College.
“Every week the team presented a theme of the type of donations that families could bring in and it was amazing to watch the pile of food items grow.”
A short film was prepared by students to demonstrate the efforts of the volunteers.
The film and items were presented to Captains Erica and Michael Cossington from the Salvation Army at a school assembly.
