“This is particularly true for the rapidly-developing area in and around Madora Bay.”

The session will include Mandurah-wide and specific Madora Bay questions and will be at Madora Bay Hall from 7pm to 8.30pm.

The eight questions will include candidates’ visions for Mandurah and the Peel, their top three priorities, their most significant contributions to date and their view on establishing one or more train stations between Mandurah and Warnbro.

Apart from the mayoral election, a record 25 candidates will fight for just six Mandurah seats.

Eight candidates are in Coast ward, where two seats are available. Sitting members Dave Schumacher and Jane Field seek re-election against Colin Purslowe, Don Pember, Delys Gebert, Matt Rogers, Kerry Ridley and Paul Cobb.

A further seven candidates will contest just one seat in Coast ward, where Shannon Lawson seeks re-election against Robert Cooper, Candice di Prinzio, Mervyn Darcy, Stella Kassiotes, Norm Snell and Kerry Whiting.

In North ward, sitting councillor Peter Jackson, who is also running for Mayor, is up against Paul Fitzpatrick, Marion Blair, Kelvin Matthews and Ahmed Zilani.

In East ward, sitting councillors Lynn Rogers and Deputy Mayor Darren Lee are defending their seats against John White, Jordon Sanger and Todd Jenkins.

In Murray, three sitting councillors – Shire President Maree Reid, Trish Briggs and Christ Thompson – seek re-election.

Other candidates include Brenda Beacham, Douglas McLarty, Brad Cardillini, Geoff Black, Donald McLure and Stephen Veevers.

The Shire of Murray does not use the ward system.
