Defence lawyer Trent Petherick said Fletcher hadn’t been in trouble for 10 years and personal issues were underlying his offending.

Mr Petherick said Fletcher wasn’t under the influence of alcohol at the time and he accepted he put others on the road at risk.

Magistrate Anne Longden said she accepted things were difficult for Fletcher at the time of his offending and hoped it was a wakeup call for him.

“It’s a shame because you stayed out of trouble for so long until you committed this offence,” she said.

Ms Longden fined Fletcher $1500 and ordered a six-month disqualification of his licence.
