Greenfields Primary School science lab transformation complete

Jill BurgessMandurah Coastal Times

MANDURAH MLA David Templeman paid a visit to the new Greenfields Primary School science laboratory.

The laboratory will improve science education at the school to skill students for jobs of the future.

As well as the classroom conversion, the school also received $25,000 to buy laboratory equipment and resources such as 3D models of the solar system and human anatomy, digital microscopes, 3D printers, virtual reality headsets, robotics and renewable energy kits.

Mr Templeman said the focus on science in schools meant more students across WA could take part in new learning experiences.

“The generic skills students will learn in these new labs are vital for their future job prospects and WA’s future economy,’’ he said.

“The State Government wants to ignite an interest in science in WA students from a young age and the new laboratory at Greenfields will definitely get students excited about science.”

The State Government’s $17 million Science in Schools program will see 200 primary school classrooms transformed into science laboratories by 2021.
