AN air quality monitoring station to pick up airborne matter on summer sea breezes will be installed in the corner of a beachside reserve at Halls Head.
The Department of Environment Regulation asked the City of Mandurah for an area in which to place the monitor.
The council considered four options on the Calypso Road reserve and this week approved a site on the grassed section to the immediate south of the Calypso Road carpark.
The station will take up an area of about 69sq m and has a 10m mast and perimeter fencing.

The council agreed to excise 185sq m of land to cover the possible need of extra land for future requirements.
According to the council, the site would not affect recreation facilities and was far enough away from local residents.
