Halls Head car crash reinforces residents concerns

Vanessa SchmittMandurah Coastal Times

RESIDENTS on Boardwalk Boulevard, Halls Head are still concerned about speeding on their street, despite raising the issue with council and police many times.

Last night a car crashed into a port-a-loo near a house under construction. The driver left the scene.

In January, residents Murray Rhodes and Shay Holdsworth told the Times hoons sped down the street and it was only a matter of time before someone was killed or seriously injured.

Mr Rhodes was angry when a car crashed into a fence on his property, causing $14,000 damage.

At the time, City of Mandurah chief executive Mark Newman said City officers would investigate the incident and assess what options may be available.

“Local government can only do so much in the area of road safety, however we work with our local police and other authorities to ensure our roads are safe for all,” he said.

“Driver behaviour is a community issue and we urge our community to take care on the roads.”
