THE Great Race was held at Halls Head College Education Support Centre on November 9.

The annual community-based team-building event aims to increase inclusion of students with disabilities into the community.

Students interact with local business and community members as they follow clues around Mandurah.

The race is modelled on the popular reality TV competition The Amazing Race.

In teams, students are challenged to complete a variety of tasks incorporating academic and physical activities that link to curriculum areas such as English, maths, history, science and health.

The goal of the day is to develop and promote the five keys to success: resilience, getting along, persistence, organisation and confidence.

The race adheres to the You Can Do It program, a whole school approach that the education support centre has adopted to develop the social, emotional and academic development of young people.
