Halls Head high school Principal moves to reassure parents after adults fought a student

THE Principal of a Halls Head high school has moved to reassure parents after adults entered the school grounds yesterday and fought with a student.

In a letter posted on the school’s website, Principal Bronwyn White, reassured parents the school is a safe place.

The letter said “students’ safety is always our priority”.

“Yesterday intruders caused an incident at the college that warranted police attendance,” the letter read.

“The disruption to the college routine was managed quickly and effectively by staff and the police.

“As the incident occurred at lunch time, a siren was used to send students back to classes early.

Police are investigating the fight in which a student was assaulted by an intruder at the front of the school, where adults were milling around.

Senior Sergeant Stephen Thompson said the incident did not involve parents.
