A 32-year-old man has been charged with stealing after a puppy was allegedly pinched from Mandurah Forum on January 9.

Sergeant Jamie Raper said the Staffordshire terrier puppy was left tied up outside the Forum while his owner was shopping.

He said police posted CCTV images on social media in an effort to find the missing pup.

This led to the pup being found and reunited with his owner.

Sergeant Raper warned people not to leave their pets outside of shops unattended.

“Puppies are a high priced item, but it’s also a weather issue, we don’t like people leaving their animals out there,” he said.

The man has been released and will reappear in Mandurah Magistrates Court at a later date.
