It was for this reason that Nicola Gilbert started Mandurah Poms, an online community for local migrants.

In less than a year, the Facebook group has more than 230 members.

Mrs Gilbert emigrated from the UK 10 years ago and found a support group in NSW very helpful. When she moved to Mandurah last year, she decided to start something similar here, so she launched the Mandurah Poms Facebook page.

‘Now we having coffee meets, family barbecues, nights out and even camping trips,’ she said.
