Industry hails taxi driver’s top service

Mr Hoar loves his job, especially meeting the customers and helping them out.

It was in this spirit that Mr Hoar received his nomination.

Customer Lily nominated him for the award, after he picked her up from Mandurah train station.

Mr Hoar works 10-hour days, four days a week.

He welcomes new laws protecting taxi drivers, including the addition of cameras to vehicles.

‘We need more taxis,’ he said. ‘People complain that they’ve waited an hour for a taxi, but we try to be accommodating.’

Mr Hoar has a few tips for people looking to become taxi drivers.

‘People shouldn’t get into it to make money, but because they are sincere and enjoy what they are doing,’ he said. ‘They should also enjoy talking to people.’
