Juveniles arrested in relation to jewellery store smash and grabs

JUVENILES have been arrested in relation to jewellery store smash and grabs in Mandurah, Rockingham and Maddington.

In October, South West Detectives commenced Operation Antiguo in relation to a series of burglary, stealing and other offences targeting jewellery and other retail stores in Bunbury and Busselton.

Their investigations showed there were links between these offences and offences in Mandurah, Rockingham and Maddington.

Detectives identified that stolen vehicles were used during the offences.

They allege that more than $1 million in property and cars were stolen, and damage in excess of $250,000 was caused.

On October 6, detectives claim offenders were disturbed at Mandurah Forum committing a burglary at a jewellery store.

During this offence, two police vehicles were damaged as the offenders allegedly fled, driving in a dangerous manner in order to evade arrest.

They searched several houses in Bunbury and Carey Park and recovered stolen property, vehicles, cash and drug related items.

As a result of investigations over four months, nine juveniles ranging from 15 to 17 have been charged with a total 171 offences.

The juveniles from Bunbury, Carey Park, Withers and Huntingdale are due to appear in Bunbury Childrens Court on March 17.
