MANDURAH nine-year-old Emma O’Neil is holding a kids’ market in Mandurah.

“I was having a clean out with my mum and realised my roller skates didn’t fit me anymore,” Emma said.

“I used my birthday money to buy them for $90 so I didn’t want to just give them away because they are almost brand new.

“I pitched my idea at Shape Mandurah’s Youth Soup.

“I had to get up in front of heaps of people and tell them about my idea to run a kids’ market.

“I wanted to teach kids about the value of their things and how they can make money from toys they don’t play with anymore.”

Although she was unsuccessful on the night, Shape Mandurah granted Emma a mini grant and a mentor to help get her idea up and running.

Emma is donating the gold coin donation from stall holders to local charity K9 Dog Rescue.

Although places are almost filled Emma encourages kids to register their interest.

Emma is hoping to run another market in the new year.
