A LAKE Clifton woman has been convicted and fined after her two dogs savagely attacked a goat and a sheep, leading to them being put down.

Michelle Leanne Fullarton was found guilty in Mandurah Magistrates Court today of being a person liable for a dog attack on an animal, and two counts of having a dog in a place without consent.

Shire of Murray prosecutor Ron Porter said Shadow, a female, light tan, staffordshire bull terrier cross and a female, black mastiff named Bella entered Tania Robin Yeomans’ property at Newnham Road at 4.45pm on July 6, 2018.

Mrs Yeomans was at her property showing real estate agent Steven James Petty around the property when they saw Shadow chasing and biting the shoulder area of her female white goat named Nanny.

Mr Porter said Bella was then observed running in after Shadow and then attacked the goat before both dogs took Nanny to the ground.

Mrs Yeomans secured Shadow and continued to the back of her property with Mr Petty.

They found a brown and white ram which had bite marks on its rump and wool ripped from its body.

Mr Porter said Mrs Yeomans returned to the goat and secured Bella before assessing the injuries to her goat and sheep.

The goat had multiple bite marks to its neck, armpits, belly and rump with a blood stream coming from is neck. The goat and sheep were put down due to the significance of the injuries.

Bella and Shadow, at the time of the offences, were under the control of the accused.

Mr Porter said there were vet bills for euthanasia of the animals but the Shire was not able to get a compensation order yet.

He said Fullarton’s rural fence, where her dogs were housed, was inadequate.

The dogs have since been relocated to a property in Waroona where fencing is secure.

The maximum penalty for a person liable for a dog attack on a person or animal is $10,000.

The maximum penalty for a dog in a place without consent is $5000.

Magistrate Anne Longden fined Fullarton $2000.
