She has worked in childcare for 11 years and has a passion for making a difference in the lives of young children.

“I believe a loving and caring environment and nurturing relationships is what makes a successful child educator,’’ she said.

“Being able to stay home with my two-year-old daughter and watch her grow and learn while doing something I love is the reason I set up my business.’’

Wanslea Family Day Care is a home-based childcare service provided by trained and registered educators in the educator’s home.

The Excellence in Family Day Care Awards are the only national awards dedicated entirely to the family day care sector.

They are in their sixth year and acknowledge the work done by family day care educators every day, as well as showcasing the bonds between family day care education and the children they work with.

Chief executive Andrew Paterson said to be named regional winner was a testament not only to Keeley’s dedication in providing early quality childhood education and care but also the relationship she had with the children in her care.

Keeley is now in the running to become a national finalist, which will be announced on September 25. The National Educator of the Year will be announced on October 28.
