Lisa Jane team raises $11,000 for cancer

Signing up for the event at Curtin University, she and her friends went on to raise $7500 ” and they almost doubled it this year, raising $11,337, becoming the biggest fundraisers at the relay on April 20-21.

Ms Mills said she had been looking for an event that would allow her to support cancer research, and commemorate Lisa Jane.

‘Last year was the first time I’d ever done it, and I just recruited friends,’ she said.

‘I had only just lost my sister in January, and the walk was in April, so lots of friends and people who knew her sponsored us.’

For this year’s event, the team sold chocolates and held a Bogan Bingo event to raise funds ahead of the relay.

She said the relay ” which involves an overnight walk, lasting 24 hours ” was definitely worth it.

‘It’s something that I definitely want to take part in again,’ she said.
