CITY of Mandurah council meetings could soon be streamed live after Mayor Rhys Williams requested a report on transparency reforms.
Council officers will look into the feasibility of live streaming council meetings and other transparency and accountability measures.
There will also be a workshop with councillors (after the October elections) to explore the scope of potential transparency reforms.
In a motion put forward at the August 27 council meeting, Cr Williams said there was a commitment to empowering the community to be actively involved in civic contribution and local decision making.
“This commitment is based on the belief that by giving the community greater power to be involved in decision making, we are better able to deliver the needs of those we represent,” he said.
The motion was carried unanimously.
