MODELLING a cake stand from chocolate has paid a tasty win for Madora Bay cake decorator Anna Comper.
At this year’s Perth Royal Show, Mrs Comper received two gold medals in the Master Cake Section.
Bringing it home for her was an art noveau themed cake inspired by her favourite artist – Czech painter Alfons Nooker.

A treasured find from an Op Shop was the inspiration for her second cake’s stand – a statue of two cherubs embracing.
Mrs Comper said the cake stand made from chocolate was supported by a rod with chocolate moulded around it.
“It was a bit harder that way, it must support the cake,” she said. “When I decorate a cake I will interpret it first with drawings, then design it around that.”
Through trial and error she created her best works.
Always on the lookout for the next competition Mrs Comper entered this month’s Waroona Show, where she turned her hand to more than cakes.
She won a first for her cake-decorating skills but also won prizes for knitting and photography.
