Making Waves Youth Forum to give Mandurah youngsters a platform for ideas

Jill BurgessMandurah Coastal Times

AS one of Mandurah’s youngest ever mayors, Mayor Rhys Williams understands the importance of providing young people with a platform to share ideas and information.

Mr Williams attributes an abundance of opportunities in the community, such as the Mandurah Junior Council, education forums and community activities with helping launch his leadership journeys.

As an ambassador for the One Young World Leaders Summit and John Tonkin College chairman, he has a strong belief that young people can lead now to make communities stronger.

Local young people are invited to join discussions and share ideas at the Making Waves Youth Forum at Mandurah Performing Arts Centre on Monday from 9am to 2pm.

The forum is set to inspire, empower and consult with Mandurah’s young people from 11-15 years and demonstrates the City of Mandurah’s commitment to local youth as part of the development of its Youth Strategy 2019-24.

The forum will feature speakers from different backgrounds including a presentation from Perth Wildcats vice captain and Youth Focus Ambassador Greg Hire.
